My Mortgage Blog

The Spring real estate market is upon us. Buying a new house should be exciting, but it can get pretty harrowing at times. You may worry you won’t qualify, given the new rules. There may be uncertainty about house prices and about interest rates. Some may not even know about the mortgage rule changes and the impact it might have on them.

If you’re considering renovating instead of purchasing, you may worry you won’t qualify for a refinance.

With the latest round of changes to mortgage rules, it’s true that qualifying for a mortgage just got a little more challenging.  It doesn’t mean you’re shut out of the real estate market completely – it means you must now qualify at a higher rate than your contract requires, although you will still pay only the contract rate.

This is the ideal time for us to review your finances, including your credit score, discuss your goals, and find the best solution for your personal situation.

For those of you who don’t understand the new rules, I am just a call or email away from explaining the changes and how they might impact you.

If you’re renewing this year, ask yourself these questions: Is your current mortgage still competitive? Has there been a change in your job or your family situation? Are you up-to-date on what the market is doing with regard to interest rates? It’s always a good idea to review your mortgage at renewal time to make sure you’re in the best product for your current needs and that it still fits into your overall financial plan.

Everyone’s situation is different and I’m familiar with most situations and can offer you options. If you don’t qualify because of the new rules, then I can help you formulate a plan so you can eventually qualify.

Yes, buying a new home can be stressful but it doesn’t have to be. Call me today and let’s talk about your plans and how I can help the process go smoother.
